When I was young, I had so
many aspirations in life, most of which I had accomplished. Many of us may have the same
experiences. Life is a cycle; sometimes you are up and sometimes you are down. I
found this scripture verse from Philippians 4:11-12: “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in
whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know
how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of
facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” I find
the word “content” to be
very powerful.
In this materialistic world we live in, we are all driven by greed, exactly the opposite of content. I need more! But as I grew older and had more time to reflect, I realized that all my possessions are gifts from God and He can take it away anytime.
God’s unconditional love for me, unworthy as I am, puts me back on the right path when I go astray. Life goes into two different directions: Shall I continue to follow the worldly path? Or shall I choose the path towards the will of God?
As I continue this journey I find comfort from this verse: Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
The journey continues…….
